At about 10:25 pm last night (Thursday 4th November), alert CCTV camera operators at Hackney…
A grim discovery early this morning of what has been described by a Clissold Park jogger as a Mastiff type dog, was found hanging by it’s collar from railings.
A Hackney Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 6:50 am on Wednesday, 7 January to reports of a dead dog found hanging from railings in Clissold Park.
“Officers attended the scene and are liaising with Hackney Council and the RSPCA.
“Enquiries continue to trace the owner of the dog and establish the circumstances of the incident”.
Local resident, Sean McPherson came upon the scene during his morning jog and described it in a tweet:
Rather distressing run this morning round Clissold Park as I saw a rather large Mastiff type dog hung on railings by its collar. #foulplay

@duchessofackney The graveyard path entrance. Would’ve been visible with daylight but had been dealt with long before then, thankfully.

The police and Hackney council need to take SERIOUSLY the concern of the people hanging about in the park after hours and the dog walkers with aggressive, out of control dogs off leash in the park. This area is no longer safe for decent local residents.
