A man in his mid thirties was found bleeding from stab wounds in a car, on Upper Clapton Road near Rossington Street at approximately 6.40pm today (Monday 9th).
Police have reason to believe he was stabbed on Stroud Green Road, in Finsbury Park before being driven Upper Clapton, presumably on his way to Homerton hospital, before the driver decided to stop for help.
He was taken to an East London hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
Ashante Prince who was in a nearby barber shop on Upper Clapton, told Hackney Hive: “I saw a man bleeding from his face in a car. A woman with him who said she was his sister, frantically told me how two men stabbed him in his face several times.
“It seemed to take forever for police to arrive, but the Jewish police[sic] Shorim were there, then a paramedic in a car showed up. Eventually police arrived as well as an ambulance”.
Upper Clapton Road between Northwold Road and Warwick Road is closed. Bus route 254 and 253 are being diverted until further notice.
UPDATE
Upper Clapton Road is now reopened.
