Murder investigation launched following Stoke Newington stabbing

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a stabbing in this morning.

Police were called shortly after 11:30 am to reports of a man suffering stab wounds in Marton Road, N16.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man who was in his 20’s, was taken to an east London hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Next of kin have been informed.

Whilst officers believe they know who the victim is, they await formal identification.  A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

At this early stage investigators believe that the victim was stabbed in nearby Oldfield Road, but got in his car and left the scene, pulling over in Marton Road where he was initially treated before going to hospital. Police believe  that prior to being stabbed the victim was talking to two men in Oldfield Road.  They are keen to hear from anyone in or around the area that saw the victim talking to the two men in Oldfield Road.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who was in or around the Oldfield Road/Marton Road area that may have seen or heard anything that may assist the investigation.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call police 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

No arrest has been made.
