The official Christmas lights switch-on by the Speaker of Hackney will take place in Hackney Town Hall Square. Join in the carol singing with the Hackney Empire choir including characters from this year’s pantomime, Puss in Boots. The event starts from 4pm.

Late Night Shopping in Stoke Newington

For the second year running here in Stoke Newington, a selection of local businesses will be opening late, til 8pm, on Wednesdays in December (4th, 11th and 18th).

Stoke Newington is an area which is primarily led by independent businesses, which becomes increasingly difficult as the chains loom ever larger.

With events such as these ‘Christmas Lates’ hopes to encourage locals, and those from further afield, to support small, independent businesses and increase community feeling.
