A 60 year old male cyclist is listed as critical and fighting for his life, following a collision with a 67 bus in Stamford Hill this afternoon.

Emergency services were called at approximately 5:20 pm to the Stamford Hill junction with Clapton Common.

Shopper, Sally Merry of Ferndale Road, had just left Sainsbury’s and was on her way home when she saw the crowds. “I was afraid of what I’d see  and didn’t want to get too close but was told a man had massive injuries to his chest and lots of blood”.

The cyclist was taken to an East London Hospital by London Ambulance Service.

There has been no arrest and traffic officers based at Chadwell Heath are investigating.

Traffic was backed up for hours and buses were diverted.

This is the second serious accident in London within three days.  On Friday,  a 20 year old female cyclist riding a Barclays Hire bike died, after a collision with a lorry in Whitechapel and Commercial Road.

Anyone who witnessed the Stamford Hill collision, is asked to call police on 020 8597 4874.
