Police investigating double stabbing in Lower Clapton

Police were alerted at about 5.30pm yesterday after two teenagers were attacked in Lower Clapton near the Pembury Estate and found two boys, 15 and 16 year old, both suffering from stab wounds.  Both teenagers were taken to a hospital, where the 16 year old is said to be in a serious but stable condition and the 15 year old has since been discharged.  It is believed neither of the youths were from the estate

Two men  aged 28 and 20, were arrested today,  Thursday 21 March, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both remain in custody at London police stations.

The stabbing comes just over a month after the unsolved shooting death of Joseph Burke-Monerville, who was  shot and killed as he sat in a car with his two brothers  near the estate, on 16th  February.

Anyone with information that may assist police should call Hackney CID on 020 7275 3644. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

This report was updated at 10.15 am Thursday, 21 March to reflect an arrest and medical condition of one of the victims.

After hitching her wagon in California, Texas, New Orleans, Louisiana for 18 years, with a brief spell in Mexico, the prodigal daughter returned to London, happy to put an unconventional and risqué past behind her. It sometimes feels like she’s still at war with herself. This often leads her into a whole lot of trouble, although it’s fair to blame it on some of her best qualities: intelligence, original thinking, willingness to take risks, skepticism, rebelliousness, independence, and creativity. But you know what, much of the trouble she gets into is because she can’t help pointing out that the emperor is naked. Remi still lives by her own rules, nobody else’s. She is owned by her two dogs Deffer(a Jack Russell ) Darcy (a Jack Russell/Pomeranian mix now deceased but can’t remove their names) and two Black cats she adopted December 2021, Desmond and Tutu.
