Sad news for the family and friends of Adam Connolly. The body of 29 year old from Clapton, last seen on Wednesday was found this afternoon (Saturday 17 November) on Hackney Marshes.
The search today covered parts of Springfield Park, Leyton and Hackney Marshes, after police traced his phone signal.
A police spokesperson said: “The body of a man was found on Hackney Marshes, near to Lee Valley Ice Rink.
“Although officers await formal identification, they are satisfied that the deceased is Adam Connolly. Next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
“At this early stage, the death is not believed to be suspicious. Inquiries continue by Hackney officers to establish full circumstances”.
Kate Reeves who was leaving the ice rink with her family this afternoon told Hackney Hive; “We were at Lee Valley ice rink and saw search & rescue were there, then as we came out, tons of police cars and ambulances turned up. It looked like a lot of his friends were there as a lot of people were crying”
On hearing the news on Twitter, Lucy Harrison tweeted to Hackney Hive; “I saw a load of police and ambulances go down Lea bridge Rd this morning and wondered if that was why.”
Soon after his disappearance, his friends including his flat mate, Friendly Fire’s drummer, Jack Savage, mobilized thousands of people using Facebook and Twitter to get the word out and organized a search of their own for Adam.
Adam who was originally from Horsham in Sussex, had a carpentry studio on Proust Road, Clapton. His girl friend and friends became alarmed after didn’t return home on Wednesday.
