Friendly Fires to headline suicide awareness concert in memory of Adam Connolly

London based Friendly Fires, will play at an event on December 12, at XOYO.  It’s been put together following the suicide of  Adam Connolly, who took his life last week.

Twenty nine year old Adams body, was discovered on Hackney Marshes last Saturday, 17 November, following a two day search. A statement on the bands Facebook page read:

The friends and family of Adam Connolly, who tragically took his own life on 14th November, have joined together to organize a party on Wednesday 12th December to celebrate his life and to raise awareness and funds to prevent suicide among young men.

Perhaps it sounds a tad predictable in these kind of circumstances but we wanted to do something that celebrates Adam’s life, his amazing creativity, and his beautiful warm, kind soul as well as showing how much we deeply love and miss him.

The evening of the 12th is our way of sharing a little bit of happiness around recent events by picking out some music by a selection of bands and djs that mean something to Adam in one way or another.

His Funeral has also been announced and will take place on Friday 30 November at City of London Crematorium.  His girl friend Juliette Hughes, said on a Facebook page originally set up to find him:

Adam’s family have requested no flowers at the funeral but please make a donation if you would prefer. I will share details of this as soon as it’s set up.

We will also be having a nice drinks thing afterwards somewhere in London Fields/general Hackney area so please come along to that too if you can make it.
