Parks for Life – Free events and activities underway in Hackney’s parks

Parks for Life, a free programme of events and activities in Hackney’s parks got underway on Saturday 3 July, with a free Yoga session on Hackney Downs.

Through Parks for Life, Hackney Council is running a series of free weekly events in five of Hackney’s parks – Clissold, Hackney Downs, London Fields, Millfields, Shoreditch, and Springfield. Activities which usually run in the morning or afternoon include Tai Chi; Roller Skating, Ballet, Yoga Bugs, Rugby Tots – an introduction to rugby for the under 6’s, Hackney Bloco – a fusion of Samba drumming and modern music and a series of walks.

The pick of the parks sees The One Hackney Festival Parade finish in Clissold Park, 12.00 noon, Sunday 21 July. Then celebrations will get into full swing to welcome the Olympic Torch to Hackney. Events run until September and are aimed at getting fit and healthy and encouraging people make the most of Hackney’s parks.
