Tony McCluskie charged with murder of his sister Gemma.

Brother charged with Gemma's murder

Police today have charged Gemma McCluskie’s older brother Tony, 35, with her murder.

Gemma aged 29,  of Pelter Close, Bethnal Green, was reported missing 2 days after she was last seen on Thursday 1st March. Her headless and limbless torso was found floating in Regents Canal, near Broadway Market on Tuesday 6th March. Tony McCluskie was arrested on Wednesday. He will appear at Thames Magistrate Court on Monday 12.

It was her two brothers Tony and Danny, who first alerted police of their sisters disappearance last week. The two began canvassing the area with posters which included Tony’s mobile number.

The former Eastenders actress shared the maisonette on Pelter Close with her terminally ill mother and two brothers.

Search continues

Officers are now keen to trace Gemma McCluskie’s last known movements before her murder. They are aware that she attended the opening of the new Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel on Thursday 1 March at 11:30 am.  She was pictured at the event wearing a yellow long-sleeved top with a round neck and navy-blue leggings. She was also carrying a Louis Vuitton bag with beige handles and brown-coloured end panels.

She is thought to have been carrying her blackberry mobile phone which had a white phone case, which have not been recovered yet.

Her head and limbs are yet to be recovered and investigations are still ongoing. This morning, a forensic team was seen combing Marlborough Avenue in Hackney, on their hands and knees after receiving new information.
