Two robbers targeting cyclists in De Beauvoir Jailed

Two Hackney men have been jailed for two years for mugging cyclists in De Beauvoir, a neighbourhood in Hackney that’s on the boarder of Islington.

The pair Jamie Johnson and Aaron Onabanjo both 20 and of Kingland Road, Dalston, were arrested last September after police began investigating a rash of robberies in the area.

Johnson and Onabano approached the victim whilst he was cycling along St Peters Way, knocking him to the ground in an attempt to steal his bike. The victim fought back managing to escape.

Both were sentenced 11 January at Snaresbrook Court.

Police say since  the arrests and increased police presence both covert and uniformed, there has been a marked decrease in robberies.
