Explosion in Hoxton Square

Details are a little sketchy at the moment, but a police spokesperson was able to confirm, what can be described as a ‘natural explosion’ took place in Hoxton Square at approximately 11:09 pm last night (Friday 5 November).

No injuries were confirmed, but  a Peugeot car parked nearby, sustained damages from concrete and debris that fell on it.

A utility company is attending and is investigating the cause.

  1. I was there, in fact I was almost blown up by this blast.
There’s a whole lot more to this story than what I have read here.

My cousin and I were walking through Shoreditch to Hoxton Square.
As we approached the square coming from the Shoreditch direction, a black Peugot hatchback pulled up on the corner and two men got out and walked past us towards Shoreditch.
I thought this was a bit strange no one just leaves a car in Hoxton Sq because the wardens are so tight!
We stood on the corner infront of the car discussing where to eat.
We spotted Miso Noodle bar on the left and started to head towards it.

As soon as we reached the other side we heard a loud bang. As I spun round I could see the pavement that we where standing on, up in the air.
It was just reduced to rubble. If we had waited any longer we would have been goners for sure.
The weird thing was, the first person to react just happened to be a man with a police bullet proof vest on under his jacket, who quickly advised us that it was an electrical explosion. He made this analysis 5seconds after the blast.

The black car mentioned in the report is the black Peugot the two men got out of.
The two men that got out were the under cover police men (I think).

I’m happy to be alive, but I dont beleive it was an electrical explosion.

Anyway, what is a ‘natural explosion’?

  2. Hmmm re the undercover cops, sounds a bit black helicopters and men in rain coats to me but who knows. Scotland Yard told us a ‘natural explosion’.

    Does sound odd tho.
