PCSO threatened by gun wielding man in Stoke Newington

A police Community Support Officer was threatened with a firearm in Stoke Newington last week, Wednesday 4 August at approx. 4:10pm.  The PCSO who was on routine patrol on his bicycle in Bethune Road, near the entrance to Allen Gardens and opposite the junction with St Kilda’s Road.

The 23 year old male PCSO, was alerted by another cyclist, who told him that there was a black man in the middle of the road nearby, wearing a balaclava. The cyclist then rode away.

The man brandished a gun and threatened the PCSO as he was approached before running off, prompting the unarmed PCSO to give chase Allen Gardens, but lost sight of him.

The gunman is described as being in his mid-20s, 6ft tall and of athletic build. He was wearing a black woollen balaclava, a plain black hooded top, black jeans, black Lacoste trainers and thin black leather gloves.

Police are keen speak to the cyclist who approached the PCSO. He is white, approx. 35 years old, 5ft 10 in. tall, of slim to athletic build, with short black hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and black trousers and rode a silver men’s mountain bike.
