Young and old can enjoy cooling off at the newly refurbished Splash pool in Stoke Newingtom.
The paddling pool was re-opened in time for the half term holiday (31 May-4 June), and has been re-painted, and a new ramp installed to make it accessible for those using wheelchairs.
Cllr Jonathan McShane, Cabinet Member for Community Services, went along and saw for himself on Saturday, 5 June, how local people are enjoying the new paddling pool.
He said: “It’s great to see so many enjoying the pool, which is one of the first improvements in the transformation of one of Hackney’s best-loved parks.”
The pool is part of the the ongoing £8.9million Clissold Park and House restoration project. Other works planned include extensive maintenance of the New River and lakes, which run through the grounds; renovation of the animal enclosures; a new play area, urban sports area and butterfly dome. Work is set to continue until summer 2011.
