Stoke Newington Couple Tom & Sally Run Marathon

Stoke Newington's Tom Stewart and Sally Boyeens

Hackney born and raised Tom Stewart and South African Born Sally Boyeens will be among the thousands this weekend running the London Marathon…and all for a good cause.

Architect  Tom,  30  and nursery school teacher Sally 27,  who live in Shelford Place are first time marathon runners who have trained all winter for this weekend.  Both say Sally’s mother Julie,  in South Africa who runs the 56 mile Comrades Marathon every year has been their greatest inspiration.

Tom and Sally are hoping to raise £2,500 for Panos London, a  charity that gives a voice and platform in the media to marginalised communities in developing countries.

Sally says: “I chose Panos London because of the invaluable work they’re doing to help children affected by poverty and HIV in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. It’s a cause that’s close to my heart and I wanted to support Panos London’s efforts to tackle the situation”.

Both are nervous at what’s ahead but excited at the challenge.
