The Friends Chinese Take away on Chatsworth Road E5, was the scene of a drive by shooting on Tuesday 16th February at about 7:30pm when a group of young men inside the take away appeared to be the target of the shooter in a black car. The 4 shots went through the shop front glass, miraculously missing staff and customers.
Owner David Chan said: “Luckily no one was hit. There were eight or nine youths in the shop and some other youths outside started shooting. The shop was quite busy.”
Three men aged 21, 22 and 23 were taken in for questioning and where released the same night of the incident and bailed to return in March.
This is not the first restaurant in that area that has been the scene of a shooting. Back in November 2004 a Jamaica Take away on the corner of Chatsworth Road and Blurton Road was the scene of a shoot out that involved an 18 month old child being shot in the leg.
Detectives from Operation Trident are investigating. Anyone with information should contact the Trident North East Shootings Team on 020 8217 7366 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
