Screen Social Presents: Northern Soul Stew @ The Book Club
Oct 8 @ 7:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Screen Social Presents: Northern Soul Stew @ The Book Club | London | United Kingdom

On Wednesday 8th October we’re hosting another charity Screen Social in London – Northern Soul Stew.

With a nod to the release of British feature film – Northern Soul, the music vs film night is back at The Book Club in London’s Shoreditch for a night of floor fillers, films and foolery.
This month we don our Ben Shermans, slip on some Trickers and get down to some serious Northern Soul tunes, film & shape-throwing. There’ll be guest DJs, live music and films charting the history of Northern Soul culture, right up to today.
Mixing up the soul soup with their 45s will be guest DJs Sonny ‘Scully’ Evans and Dean Chalkley, vocal trio J.E.T playing their own brand of soul, and a host of films, from independent directors to YouTube sensations and everything in between.

Please register online if you can or let us know you’re coming on our Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/events/348806578617999/

All proceeds from this Screen Social go to the housing & homelessness charity Shelter.
Register online and organisers Swhype will donate an extra £1.
This will be a night full of music, film, chat and drinks. Click the orange button to register for entry.

IT’S NO JOKE! POP UP COMEDY & TOILET DISCO @ The Convenience
Nov 19 @ 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm
IT'S NO JOKE! POP UP COMEDY & TOILET DISCO @ The Convenience | London | England | United Kingdom

Urine for a treat at the finale of WaterAid’s World Toilet Day: It’s No Joke Comedy Festival!

Presenting five budding comedians performing in these former public loos, you won’t be pooh-poohing their jokes as you laugh like a drain. Featuring their favourite poo-related pun we can’t promise they’ll be keeping it clean – it would be shame to let a good toilet joke go to waste after all. Following this, get out your number one moves and dance like a loo-ny at our unique ‘toilet disco’ – not a bog-standard night, we promise!

Britain is known for its love of toilet humour. But for many millions of people around the world toilets are no laughing matter. A shocking 2.5 billion people – one in three of the world’s population – do not have access to a safe, private toilet. Many have no choice but to face the indignity of going to the toilet in the open, where they are exposed to disease and vulnerable to harassment and even attack. This is a serious issue that can be hard to talk about – so let’s overcome our embarrassment and use comedy to get the nation talking about toilets. All profits from this event goes to support WaterAid’s life-saving work, in helping us reach our vision of a world where everyone, everywhere has access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

Alongside the comedy festival, WaterAid has encouraged some of Britain’s best-loved comedians to go head-to-head to be awarded the title of ‘Britain’s Best Toilet Joke’. Watch Milton Jones, Lucy Porter, Arthur Smith and John Cooper Clarke, amongst others, deliver their wee one-liners and perform toilet tales, and vote for your favourite online at: www.wateraid.org/uk/itsnojoke. Running from 3rd – 18th November, the winning joke will be announced on World Toilet Day, where one of the comedians will be crowned the winner and receive the coveted golden loo seat!
