Man shot in Stoke Newington Convinience Store

A man was shot late last night (Saturday), at a CostCutter store on busy Stoke Newington High Road, near the corner of Foulden Road.

Reports began surfacing on Twitter just before midnight including one from Stoke Newington resident author and food writer, Deborah Robertson, who tweeted: “Seems the road block we got caught up in on Stoke Newington High Street on way home was because of a shooting. Grim.” Others also tweeted of police presence and cordons.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called at 11.05pm on Saturday to reports of shots fired in Stoke Newington Road, near the junction with Foulden Road.

“Officers attended the scene and a man was taken to hospital suffering gunshot wounds which are not thought to be life-threatening.

“Hackney Police and the Trident gang crime unit are investigating. There have been no arrests.”

Just another night in paradise. Bang bang.

They are named Fred and Ginga. In October 2025, another stray cat joined her family. Her name is Suzie Q. She is proprietor of London’s finest and long established pet sitting service. The big smoke is home for the moment, but she desperately yearns wide open spaces, where she hopes to call home in the near future.
