A woman is recovering in hospital following a jump from a third floor apartment in Haggerston.
London Fire Brigade was called to Adelaide Wharf, on the corner of Whiston and Queensbridge Road, in the early hours of this morning. The woman, whose age is not known, leapt before Fire Fighters arrived.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: ‘We received a call at 2.50 this morning to Adelaide Wharf, Whiston Road.
‘One adult female jumped from the third-floor level before we arrived. She was removed by the London Ambulance Service.
‘We used two jets, breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras.’
‘We sent two crews and a duty officer and treated one patient, a woman.
‘She was taken as a priority to the Royal London Hospital with a head injury. Her condition is serious.’
She was airlifted by London Air Ambulance, who said she suffered a serious head injury and leg and arm injuries in her escape from the building.
Kingsland Fire Station which is due to close in a few days, is the nearest Fire Station and seconds away from Adelaide Wharf, is currently operating with one fire engine instead of two.
