Fire breaks out in Stoke Newington Church Street building

Fire fighters are currently attending to a fire that started at just after 7:00 am at the UK Supermarket on Church Street.

Six fire engines , two each from Holloway and Stoke Newington fire stations and one each from Islington and Kingsland fire stations  arrived at the building which consists of a convenience store and three floors of flats above it, to find the ground and first floor ablaze. Everyone was accounted for.

The fire was under control at 8:46 am and the cause is under investigation.

Stoke Newington Church Street is closed and buses on diversion.
