The Heredi community in Stamford Hill are still in shock over the death of  a well known respected Rabbi.

Rabbi Chaim Breisch, 65,  was pulled out of the sea in Broadstairs in  Kent, along with one of his students, Rabbi Yitzhak Beigel,  who is said to be in his 30′s, on Monday morning.

The Rabbi was taken by air ambulance to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, but was pronounced dead.  His student Rabbi Yitzhak, was treated and released but was detained for a short time by local police, who questioned  and released him.

According to a popular Haredim website, Behadrey Haredim,  the elder Rabbi had not being feeling well and decided on a short holiday in Ramsgate, where his brother-in-law lived.  Rabbi Yitzhak accompanied him.  On Monday morning he decided on going for a swim despite rough seas, unpredictable weather and the protests of people nearby, including the younger Rabbi.

His body has been released after a slight delay because of the bank holiday.

An inquest was opened and adjourned.
