Shots fired at police officers in Clapton

 

Shots fired in Mandeville Street

Police say officers monitoring CCTV camera in Clapton last night, noticed 3 suspicious males loitering on bikes.

At 11:30 pm a patrol car was despatched to the area.  Shots were fired towards the patrol car on Mandeville Street and the 3 males  made off over a nearby foot bridge. The car was not hit and nobody was injured.

A handgun was recovered shortly afterwards. Police in Hackney continue to investigate the incident.

The 242 bus is on diversion and nearby roads have been cordoned off.
