We recently booked a table for two at Su Sazzagoni’s 17 course monthly tasting and it was a great experience. We were prepared for a small tasting menu, but what we received left us very surprised!
Located in the heart of Victoria Park Village in South Hackney, Su Sazzagoni’s has fast become a favorite of locals and diners from further afield, earning knock out reviews from local and national press in it’s less than 3 years in the area.
Just to give you an idea, the portions were so copious that we were able to take leftovers home and eat them for dinner the next evening. The price was very affordable as well and we are sure to book again. The menu is chef’s choice, so it’s a surprise each time they bring out your next course.
We saw couples and large groups eating that night, so this tasting is sure to please everyone. Starting off with a pesto dip with baked crispy bread we then were led into the antipasti, which were cured meats, sausages, vegetable salads and a variety of seafood treats. It’s hard to explain what everything was, but they all complimented each other so well. Following the antipasti was the pasta and meat course, which consisted of pork, sausage and a few types of meatballs. The pasta was spinach, ricotta ravioli and another type of pasta I am not familiar with. All really delicious.
As I mentioned earlier, the portions were really large, so by the time dessert rolled around, we were not really looking forward to eating a whole cheesecake, if you know what I mean. Thankfully, the brilliant chefs had thought of this dilemma and served us limoncello, coffee and small home-baked cookies and sweet powered sugar-coated balls of greatness.
These were so good that I ordered more to go. All in all, a meal to remember that didn’t leave a huge dent in your wallet. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
