Day of the Dead Celebrations/ Dia de los Muertos

Latin American Arts Project in Hackney, invites you all to celebrate The Day of The Dead or “El día de los muertos” as it is known in Mexico.

This Saturday and Sunday they will be holding the traditional Mexican Day of the Dead Celebrations, at Hackney City Farm. It’s a colourful and vibrant affair which spans back hundreds of years.

They will have an “ofrenda” (offerings) at a traditional altar, this is a place where everyone is welcome to remember family and loved ones by either lighting a candle or bringing a simple offering (if your granny liked coffee then bring in some coffee beans). All the offerings will be left on the altar for two days and we will then share it together on Sunday evening (4pm-6pm) with some punch and day of the dead bread.
