In an effort to raise awareness about prostrate cancer in men, a group is hoping to persuade 1000 men to walk or run 10.2km wearing wigs and dresses.
Prostate cancer kills almost as many men as breast cancer kills women, and yet 70% of men don’t even know what the prostate is.
Men are dying unnecessarily because they are unaware of the symptoms of prostate cancer and because they are not aware of the risk factors involved. Experts agree that this is partly due to a lack of funding and media attention, and partly because men are not very good at talking about such delicate matter.
The X Foundation have teamed up with the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation and Prostrate Cancer Support Foundation and will be launching Prostrate Cancer Awareness Day by holding the flamboyant The Great Drag Race.
The race will begin and end at London Fields on June 19th (the day before fathers day). It is open to men of all ages and ability.
