I caught up with Diane Abbott who was kind enough to spare a few minutes answering some questions for Hackney Hive, and I’m happy to report that like me, the incumbent Hackney North & Stoke Newington Labour MP, lets off a few F bombs when needed.
1) What was the deciding factor that made
you run again to represent Hackney North & Stoke Newington?
I’m running again because there’s still a lot of things I want to do in Hackney. I want to see more jobs for local people on the Olympic site, more action taken on the root causes of gun, gang and knife crime and I want to protect services like the Homerton, the five new schools we have built and push for more improvements for Hackney, like the East London Line.
3) Where do you stand on Hackney Loyalty
Cards for local business in Hackney?
I think they are a good thing. They encourage people to use local shops and help keep areas thriving. Areas like Stoke Newington Church Street and Dalston, where I live, have a village feel and regular customers use shops there all the time. It would be great if businesses had a way of rewarding them for their loyalty, while promoting their business.

Where would you like to live?
I love Dalston, where I currently live, particularly now we have a brand new overground station. But, if I could live anywhere, it would be a very pretty listed building which was at the end of the road that I used to live in Palatine Avenue in Stoke Newington
