Congratulations to one of Hackneys independent Book shops that has been short listed for The Independent Bookseller of the Year – South-East & London region.
Pages, only opened less than two years ago, is a much appreciated addition to our list of other independent book shops scattered across the borough.
Located on Lower Clapton Road, it occupies what use to be a local post office, until the postmaster was shot dead, during a robbery.
Aside from being a much welcomed oasis for book lovers on a road known mainly for being a “convenience shopping centre” they also host regular events including readings, discussions, debates, screenings and art exhibitions. One enjoyable event I attended last year was an evening with Iain Sinclair, Bonnie Greer and Yang Lian.
Pages of Hackney is a small book store, but they have a wide selection and offer an ordering service with a quick turn around.
